Personal data protection policy
The François Sommer Foundation, housing the Museum for Hunting and Nature (Hôtel de Mongelas, 62, rue des Archives, 75003 Paris), with its offices located at Hôtel de Guénégaud, 60, rue des Archives, 75003 Paris, may need to collect certain personal information concerning the users of its website. As controller of this data, the museum located at 62 rue des Archives, 75003 Paris, ensures to protect and respect your private life. To this end, the museum has appointed a Data Protection Officer to respond to any request to exercise your rights concerning the implemented processing of personal data.
This policy explains the way in which the museum collects and processes your personal data. It applies to all of the services offered on the official website (https://fondationfrancoissommer.org/) and on its associated sites (http://www.chassenature.org and https://museechassenature.tickeasy.com/) as well as any other online activity belonging to the museum and involving the collection of personal data (“Site”). Only the museum’s online shop (www.librairie.chassenature.org) is excluded from its scope of application, with the museum not being responsible for the processing of this data.
This policy may be modified according to legal and regulatory changes as well as in relation to the legal doctrine of the French National Commission For Computing and Liberties (CNIL).
1. Data collection
While navigating the museum’s site, you may need to provide personal data when you fill out online forms: customer account creation, membership requests, newsletter subscriptions, customer services (order follow-up, information requests) recruitment forms, etc.
Each form contains an information note concerning your rights as they are defined under the amended law of 6 January 1978 titled “Computing and Liberties” and EU regulation no. 2016/679 of 27 April 2016, titled “GDPR.”
In certain cases, the François Sommer Foundation uses cookies that correspond to the text files placed on your device when you access the museum’s Site. These are used to collect your IP address and associated information (browser type, geographical location, device used, browser language, service provider, etc.) in order to establish statistics without directly identifying you.
Moreover, the use of social networks on the foundation and museum’s Site (share buttons for Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, etc.) can lead to the exchange of data between the museum and these social networks.
The François Sommer Foundation suggests that you consult the personal data management policies of these different networks so you can understand the personal data categories that they may share. If you do not want the social networks to collect information about you while you are browsing, you may wish to disconnect from these networks and remove the cookies from your browser before consulting the foundation and museum’s Site. You can also use the features on your browser that protect you from being identified (or download a plug-in that can do this).
The default settings on internet browsers are usually set up to accept cookies, but these settings can be changed. For more details about these files, the foundation and museum suggest that you consult its cookies management policy.
2. Data processing purposes
The François Sommer Foundation collects and processes your personal data for the following specified, explicit and legitimate purposes:
On the legal basis for executing a contract
- Management of your customer account, shopping cart and orders
- Management of your memberships (Hunting Nature Museum pass)
- Management of deliveries, order tracking and billing
- Provision of a customer service (response to website user requests)
On the legal basis of your consent
- Sending information on museum news and updates (newsletters, yearly brochure, etc.)
- Management of museum-organised events (competitions, etc.)
- Processing of applications sent to the museum via the specific space (https://www.chassenature.org/candidatures/)
- Website traffic measurements
For all of these forms of processing, you can withdraw your consent at any time by sending your request to our Data Protection Officer (see contact details at the bottom of the page).
On the legal basis of our legitimate interest
- Commercial solicitation/prospection: we can use your contact details to send you targeted advertising by email and regular post. The foundation undertakes to respect the rules applicable to each prospecting channel.
Your personal data is not processed later on in a way that is incompatible with the purposes detailed above.
3. Data recipients
The recipients of your personal data are the museum’s relevant departments:
- Personal data collected through subscription and membership forms (both digital and physical versions) are intended for the people in charge of information transmission in the museum
- Personal data collected through customer account creation form are intended for the people in charge of audience and sales development in the museum
- Personal data collected from responses sent to job or internship offers found on the Site (https://www.chassenature.org/candidatures) and from unsolicited applications are intended for the people in charge of recruitment for the François Sommer foundation.
The foundation can only share the collected information with its service providers and sub-contractors if it is required for any of the data processing operations mentioned above. Under these circumstances, the aforementioned service providers and sub-contractors will be notified of any correction and/or termination of personal information.
The sub-contractors that the François Sommer Foundation has engaged carry out the follow operations according to the foundation’s instructions:
- Website and data hosting
- Website technical development and maintenance operations
- Paper and digital file routing
- Cookies and traffic measurements
4. Conservation of data
In accordance with the GDPR, your data is saved in an identifying form for only as long as it is needed to fulfil the collection and processing purposes.
Your personal data is stored either in the François Sommer Foundation’s database or in a database controlled by one of its service providers. Data related to customers is saved for 2 years after the end of the contractual relationship (date of last purchase or last contact with the museum). The data relating to commercial prospects is also saved for 2 years beginning with the last contact.
With regards to recruitment data, it is saved for a maximum of 2 years after the last contact with the applicant.
5. Data security
As data processing controller, the François Sommer Foundation takes every suitable precaution to ensure the security and privacy of your data and to prevent your data from being distorted, damaged or accessed by unauthorised third parties.
The foundation’s Information systems department also respects the information systems security policy set out by the French National Agency for the Security of Information Systems (ANSSI), which establishes the minimal security measures applicable to the French government’s information systems.
6. Rights
In accordance with the Computing and Liberties law and the GDPR, you have the right of access, rectification, limitation, portability and deletion for your data.
You also have the right to oppose at any time having your data used for commercial prospecting purposes.
Also, you can establish any advance post-mortem directives for your personal data. If you want to exercise your rights, you need to contact the museum’s public services department by writing to the following addresses:
